What are Guidelines?

Recommendations for treatment of a particular condition are published as clinical guidelines.

Clinical guidelines are based upon an extensive review of evidence-based literature, and their purpose is to help health professionals and patients make decisions based upon the best evidence available.

Typically, most authoritative clinical guidelines are authored by health care associations, organizations, or societies.
