What is a NYTimes Academic Pass?

A NYTimes.com Academic Pass allows LVC faculty, students, and staff full access to the NYT website and most of its digital content.

What is included in the NYTimes Academic Pass?

  • Full access to NYTimes.com
  • TimesMachine.  Searchable, browsable page scans of every issue of The New York Times published between 1851 and 2002
  • Access to NYTimes archives, dating back to 1851.  Search capabilities are, however, rather clunky.  You're better off accessing  NYTimes 1980-present content here.  For access to the NYTimes from 1851 to three years prior from today's date, go here.
  • Podcasts, including the "Daily" podcast
  • NYT Videos
  • Newsletters

What is not included?

Passes do not include e-reader editions, Times Premier content or digital versions of The New York Times Crossword. NYTimes apps are not supported on all devices.

Once I'm registered, how do I access the NYTimes?

Log in at http://www.nytimes.com from any device and location.

How long will I have access?

Access for faculty and staff is valid for 364 days from the date you activate it.  After it expires, you can register as above for a new pass for 364 days.  Student passes are valid until they graduate.
