Herb Block President's Exhibit

About the Exhibit

Bishop Library is hosting a panel exhibit during the Fall 2012 semester which spotlights artist Herbert Block's political cartoons. Block insisted that no president was “above caricature or comment." Famously known as “Herblock,” Block was an editorial cartoonist for the Washington Post who used his work to defend the rights and freedoms of Americans. He received three Pulitzer Prizes and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Herb Block and Presidents

"Herblock took every opportunity to let our presidents know he was right there with a keen eye and a bottle of ink. He spent most of his time at the Washington Post where he worked from 1946 to 2001. Over seven decades Herblock portrayed thirteen presidents with characteristic humor, intelligence, and a passion for good government."
