Which AI Tool for Your Task?

Since there are so many generative AI tools these days, it can be difficult to decide which one to use for a particular task.  A helpful way to think about this is to look at whether the tool is grounded in a source of facts.

Not Grounded.  Rely Only on Their Training Data:

• ChatGPT 3.5.  Free - trained up to Jan. 2022
• Claude.  Free - trained up to August 2023

Grounded.  Also Use Web Search Results or Other Types of Search Results:

• ChatGPT Plus (GPT4). $20/mo.  To upgrade to 4, you'll need to click on the ChatGPT pull-down in the upper LH corner and pay.
• ChatGPT-4o.  Limited access may be available to you if you create a free ChatGPT account. 
• Perplexity AI.  Free & pro versions.
• Microsoft Copilot.  Free & pro versions.
• Google Gemini. Free & pro versions.
