Find databases for your research needs. 

  • Focus Looking for peer-reviewed journal articles? Or full-text articles? Use the All Subjects and All Database Types pull-downs above to focus your search.
  • Subject Guides.  They'll list the best and most appropriate databases.
  • The Serials Directory.  Lists hundreds of thousands of newspapers, magazines, journals.  Provides information on which databases index a specific journal.

Access Databases

You can always access LVC's databases from on-campus. 

Off-campus, however, you must access LVC's databases from the library's homepage.  After you select a database, a login page will appear. 

  • Use the left login box.
  • Choose LVC from the pull-down. 
  • Login with your LVC username do not include the piece and your LVC password.

New Databases

The following databases were recently acquired.
A collection of journal articles, preprints, conference proceedings, dissertations and more related to COVID-19 and other coronaviruses. It includes comprehensive research background coverage of past pandemics and epidemics, like MERS and SARS, to give researchers and students context around the current global crisis.
The Kanopy platform includes over 30,000 streaming films. LVC's BASE subscription package provides access to almost 10,000 of these films, and is supplemented by an small selection of films requested for academic course use. Content in the subscription package is included from over 110 providers, such as: Kino Lorber, The History Channel, PBS, First Run Features, New Day Films, California Newsreel, Shout Factory, Michael Blackwood, DEFA, Flicker Alley, Video Project, Network Ireland Television, Samuel Goldwyn Films, Pragda, and Outcast Films.
Through government documents, law review articles, and books dated in the 19th century, LGBTQ+ charts the gay rights movement in America and the inequalities that still exist today.
MLA Handbook Plus is an online version of the 9th edition of the citation guide by the Modern Language Association. From the MLA Handbook Plus website, click on the blue button, "Access the Handbook", to view the citation guide. Our subscription also includes access to the MLA Style 101 video course as well as online copies of two publications: MLA Guide to Digital Literacy and MLA Guide to Undergraduate Research in Literature.
