Dr. Harris is the fifth chair of the nationally recognized Chemistry Department and ACS accredited program since 1951. He is known for his student-faculty research success and student-faculty publications. Dr. Harris has mentored and guided his student researchers to conference presentations, many achieving first place honors, at national and regional conferences in Boston, New Orleans, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle, among others. His research groups have also been selected twice to present their undergraduate research projects to the U.S. Congress on Capitol Hill. With his students as co-authors, Dr. Harris’ work has been published in several journals including the Journal of Undergraduate Chemistry.
