Her research addresses Spanish literature, cinema, and culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, specifically in three areas: contemporary adaptations of ancient mythology (Narcissus and the double); trauma and memory studies, especially in relation to the Spanish Civil War, the Franco dictatorship (1939-75), and the Spanish transition to democracy based on what has come to be called pacto del olvido (pact of forgetting); and gender studies.  She has published scholarly articles on Camila Calderón, José María Merino, Rosa Montero, and Alfonsina Storni, and participated in national and international conferences presenting papers on authors as diverse as Juan Goytisolo, Merino, Juan José Millás, Montero, Ramón Sender Barayón, Storni, and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, as well as filmmakers such as Alejandro Amenábar, Antonio Hernández, and Susana Koska.
